“Experimentum Verso” is an artistic exchange, an experimental dialogue between two creators that transcends traditional collaboration. In this project, the focus lies not on creating a unified work, but on exploring the invisible threads that bind artistic impulses and interpretations.
Two artists embark on a creative journey: one acts as the antenna, transmitting a visual or conceptual signal through an original piece of artwork. This initial work serves as a pure expression of their inner world, a unique combination of ideas, feelings, and aesthetics.
The second artist takes on the role of the receiver, tasked with capturing what this transmitted piece evokes in them. Through their own medium and artistic approach, the receiver interprets and transforms this impulse into a new creation—a response that is as much an exploration of themselves as it is a reflection of the original work.
The exchange unfolds in phases, with each artist alternating between the roles of antenna and receiver. Over time, this continuous feedback loop creates a series of works where the boundaries between original and response blur, as both artists’ voices are woven together in an evolving, unpredictable conversation.
The aim of Experimentum Verso is to delve into the dynamic relationship between inspiration and interpretation. The project celebrates the ways in which art communicates across personal boundaries, using one artist’s work as a spark for the other’s creative process. This exchange will be documented, offering viewers insight into the layers of emotion, thought, and transformation that arise in the spaces between stimulus and response.
How it starts
In 2014, two artists met together, the one, Felix Bockemühl from Überlingen/Germany and the other Didier Scheuren from Sankt Vith/Belgium. At that time, both were engaged in the social inclusive artfield and they just donsomething else togethert, So they worked as a Duo under scheuren/bockemühl
In order to bridge the geographical distance, both used the classic postal service and sent each other numerous impulses in the form of drawings and various objects. The project was thus born and used again and again, sometimes more, sometimes less.
